If your recipe calls for soft flour or cake flour, sift together 2 parts of cornstarch and 1 part all-purpose flour.

To write neatly on a cake, write first with a toothpick. Then, trace with the icing.

If you’re not so good at rolling out an even pie crust for the top of your pie, use cookie cutters on the dough and place cut out dough on top instead. Or just use one decorator piece to cover up an uneven spot.
