To split a cake layer in half, wrap a thread around the middle of the layer and pull the ends.

Make your own “munch-ables” for kids. You just need some Ritz-type crackers, cut lunchmeat and cheese to fit on them. Or fill crackers with pbj. These are perfect for spontaneous, backyard picnics.

Before using a home-made pie crust, freeze and defrost. Easier to roll out for some reason.
