Heard of chess cake?
Well, then, have you heard of gooey butter cake?
I ran across this recipe for chess cake. Having the ingredients on hand, I decided to make it. Upon closer inspection, this recipe looked quite familiar.
Try it yourself and see if it reminds you of gooey butter cake.
Ingredients:
1 stick of melted butter
1 box of yellow cake mix
3 beaten eggs
1 (8 oz) package of cream cheese
1 pound of powdered sugar
1 teaspoon of vanilla
Instructions:
Preheat oven to 325 degrees. Grease a 9 x 13 baking pan.
Mix together the cake mix, melted butter and one beaten egg to form a stiff dough.
Press the dough firmly and evenly into the bottom of the baking pan.
Mix together the cream cheese, powdered sugar, vanilla and two beaten eggs.
Pour this mixture on top of the unbaked crust.
Bake for about 40 minutes.
Let cool a little, and then sprinkle with some powdered sugar for decoration.
Cut into squares and share with friends. Just call it--yummy!
